Do you think that The Ship should be limited to only maps of ships? Or would you like to see more than that? Maps like Mansions, The Air Ship, Submarines, Underwater Hotels, Hotels, Motels etc etc...

Nope, I believe it can be made into almost anything that fits the theme of The Ship, 1920.

Connemara is a good example, the stairs from Deck C and Deck B reminds me so much about a rich hotel. :)
It would be interesting to see a submarine/airship. A big hotel wouldn't be so different from the cruiser maps in architecture and design of locations.

I agree,

I don't even feel like I'm on a ship except when I walk into the bridge where the captain stands...

I would love to see the Hotel from The Shining. That would be one kick-ass map to play. Endless possibilities!

Even though you don't FEEL you're on a ship you still are. I think it should stick to its ship theme but I do want more. Sequel anyone?

Names are insignificant compared to gameplay.

If it works and fits the 20s Decor, its cool.

Sr Dela, you so obviously want to give [OL] money, just go work for them for free ;)

I voted yes, with the stipulation that an airship (Zepplin) is still a ship

A Zepplin is about as far high up as I'd like the game to go. Anything further than the atmosphere should be saved for another version of The Ship set into the future. :P

I've offered :o

No, but seriously, it's called The Ship for a reason. If it weren't I'd totally be all over this, but they've always talked about a sequel anyway, so why not have all this there?

And whether majority is for it or no you're still gonna see it once the custom mappers do their thang. It just won't be official TS maps but I'm sure it'll all be there.

We didn't say that this thread was supposed to be about official maps.
Just about our opinion of how restricted The Ship is when it comes to design of maps. :)

The whole idea behind the game is tongue-in-cheek, so I think adding airships, submarines and even steampunk style space ships would enhance the fun. It's called simply 'The Ship' after all, and that doesn't necessarily limit it to seagoing vessels.

I think that everything mentioned on the forums are cool, just not the space ship. It really wouldn't fit.

It's a ship, therefore it would fit. Also, it would be fun and it seems popular. To argue against a popular mod just seems silly. I mean you wouldn't even have to use it if you didn't like it.

If you do the space ship right then it WILL fit in with The Ship it will just take on a bit more different theme, because of that doesn't mean it will suck.

Is it possible for users to create custom maps?

Yes, right now there's an UNOFFICIAL SDK out, if I find it later I'll link you, but just use the search function in the forums to find it. No one really knows when the official sdk is due out.

The theme of The Ship is Ships that travel at sea not flying saucers and dragons.

Keep this game to its origonal idea. Its Unique and was origonally designed for Sea Ships. Please OL Keep it that way.

Stop abusing the word 'SHIP'

Why do you feel threatened that OL would do anything like that?
We all know they aren't going to abandon their The Ship idea, they ain't stupid you know that would implement unsuited features unless they think it suits.

As you know a ship's design is similar to a house and you can make a lot of things fit for The Ship. It's a matter of imagination and creativity.

You can make a house to look like Connemara you know, it looks a lot like a house or hotel you know. Doing a space ship is hard to keep the atmosphere of The Ship but its far from impossible. The same goes for air ship, it works and the same with trains but you would have to redesign the train a bit in order to really fit also, probably the most interesting one, is submarine boat style with windows and so on...

There's several different ways and when more people pick up the unofficial or the official SDK you'll for certain see those ideas to come true.
You should keep this spirit up than trying to break it. :)

Voted no. Submarines, airships, trains (Orient Express lends itself well), spaceships, large luxury planes, oil rigs... all could be done very well. Of course a lot of these should be done by the community once we get the official SDK.

OL should probably concentrate on ships and perhaps an airship or other modes of transport of that era. But the community could most certainly move to modern liners, spaceships/stations and so on.

I'm kinda undecided since I don't really want to see space ships and other corny stuff like that. I'm still all for an airship map and a submarine map. Airship for the win! I really want to see the devs make one of those.

Isn't the issue sort of decided now that there's an official not-really a ship map? Raifucu Maru is more off-ship than on, though there is one and a raft amongst it.

Isn't the whole reasonning after being on a ship is that the players can't escape? like they can't kill someone and simply leave, although it doesn't really matter right now, perhaps it will in sequels

a submarine would be good !!!:D
